Claire Brett – Director
Claire has taught Performing Arts to children for over 16 years. Claire’s love of performing began as a child and she took part on various productions. After studying Drama at GCSE then A-Levels, Claire went on to gain a 2:1 BA Hons Degree in Performing Arts at Bath Spa University.
She then travelled worldwide as a performer and entertainment manager for companies including TUI – Holiday Village, Park Holidays, Brittany Ferries, Big Bubble Theatre Company and taught at various theatre schools in between working as a performer.
Claire has always loved teaching performing arts to children and strives to build confidence in each and every child. As a mum of two, she knows exactly how precious our children are and will always to go above and beyond to make sure each and every child is happy and safe whilst learning.
Claire has a chaperone license and is Level 3 first aid trained.
Laura Manson – Dance Teacher
Laura has been dancing since she was three years old, where she began training in Tap, Ballet, and Modern.
She has competed at the UKCA (UK Cheerleading Association) National championships, where her squad came 1st place two years in a row, and also 2nd place, in the three years that she competed.
Laura graduated from Leeds Beckett University with an Upper Second Class degree in Dance, where she developed her Contemporary technique and choreographic skills. Her strongest styles are Contemporary, Commercial, and Street/Urban Dance. However she has done many workshops in different styles; including Afro, Kathak, and Butoh.
She also teaches at JD Gyms where she is the dance instructor for Dance Fitness and Zumba classes.
She has a passion for working with children, whilst ensuring that every child is learning something new, through a fun and thrilling environment.
Laura is Level 3 first aid trained.
Martin Hamer – Musical Director
Martin Hamer is a freelance musician based in Leeds. He grew up in Somerset, studying Piano from an early age and achieving a DipABRSM in Classical piano performance at aged 16. Alongside his classical studies, Martin developed a passion for Jazz piano. He was fortunate enough develop these skills further by studying at Leeds College of Music, where he met and worked with some of the UK’s finest musicians and teachers.
Since graduating with a BA(Hons) Jazz Studies degree from Leeds College of Music in 2010, Martin has worked as Musical Director onboard many cruise ships for Celebrity Cruises and most recently Seabourn. On a recent Seabourn contract, Martin was onboard Musical Director for the show ‘An Evening with Sir Tim Rice’, and ‘The Voice’ winner Toni Warne. These jobs have allowed him to travel the world and see some amazing places, whilst performing countless shows for a wide range of audiences.
When not working onboard cruise ships, Martin performs with several function bands at venues across Yorkshire. He also provides his services as a teacher and accompanist for exams, giving him a varied and always exciting schedule!
Gurmeet Singh
Gurmeet has been a TA for over 14 years and is a mum of 4. She specialises in assisting with children with special educational needs and is excited to join us at Stage Kidz.
